Asthma is the most common long-term medical condition affecting children and young people. We have a wide collection of guides and resources available as part of the London Asthma Toolkit.

Background

1 in 10 children and young people are affected by asthma, meaning 240,000 have the condition in London. Many have badly managed asthma – to the extent that 4,000 are admitted to hospital with asthma every year and 170 have such a severe episode that they require admission to intensive care.

Providing better asthma care

Our asthma toolkit supports health and care professionals across London to provide better care across the entire system for children and young people with asthma. Healthcare professionals, school staff, parents, carers, children and young people are encouraged to use our toolkit to ensure young people and children with asthma have the best care and experience in London.  It can help organisations implement London’s asthma ambitions and London’s asthma standards for children and young people.

The primary care respiratory academy commissioning platform aims to offer the tools and resources that you need to optimise respiratory outcomes in your population. These include medicines optimisation dashboards and BTS asthma discharge care bundle.
