This document provides formal standards for paediatric assessment units in London.

The standards have been developed by our Children and Young People’s Paediatric Assessment Unit Task and Finish Group. They have been created in order to reflect the urban requirements of the capital in providing effective care for children and young people in London.

This guide is for NHS Trusts to use as part of self-assessment exercises to determine whether current paediatric assessment units meet appropriate standards and where improvements can be made. It can be used by commissioners as a tool to guide their decisions about service provision and quality assurance.
