An evaluation of South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust’s centralised health-based place of safety.
This report outlines evaluation findings of the new centralised health-based place of safety service model at the Maudsley Hospital.
The SLaM place of safety opened as a pilot in January 2017. The new model replaced four single-occupancy sites in Lambeth, Lewisham, Croydon and Southwark.
This centralised approach aimed to improve accessibility and quality of care for people who are detained under section 136 of the Mental Health Act.
