This rapid review looks at crisis services present in London and across the country that have demonstrated success in providing individuals with timely and effective care and support, over and above A&E departments and Health Based Place of Safety sites. Information included aims to support local areas that are looking more broadly at crisis care services aligned to Health Based Place of Safety provision.
A £15m national funding scheme will be launched in October 2017 to expand services for preventing mental health service users from experiencing a crisis, supporting those in crisis or helping those who have experienced a crisis to recover and avoid relapse. Healthy London Partnership is supporting London’s crisis care system to apply for funding to support the implementation of London’s Section 136 pathway and Health Based Place of Safety specification, which was launched by the Mayor of London in December 2016.
We have reviewed current Health Based Places of Safety and identified ways to support an improved model of care.
