Healthy London Partnership and Greater London Authority wins prestigious Health Service Journal Award

Healthy London Partnership, Greater London Authority and over 20 National and International partners have been awarded the Health and Local Government Partnership award for the London Homeless Health response to Covid-19 at the 40th HSJ Awards.

The HSJ Awards is revered for its role in shedding light on these important qualities and their value in “opening doors” to wider opportunities and funding within the healthcare sector today.
Following an extensive judging process, undertaken by a wide range of well-respected figures from across the UK healthcare community, the London Homeless Health Response to Covid-19 has been awarded this prestigious award in recognition of their outstanding contribution to healthcare over the past 12 months – a year which has undoubtedly been one of the most demanding on record for the NHS.

The judges said of the London Homeless Health response to Covid-19:

Our winners provided a great example of mobilising a vast array of partners quickly in the face of a crisis. The panel was impressed with the connectedness of the bid and got a real sense of coherence from strategy to delivery, demonstrating a detailed understanding of what it takes to work with the most vulnerable and marginalised people. The lessons learnt will be of value to partnerships in towns and cities across the country, and to policy makers too.

The London Homeless Health Response to Covid-19 was delivered by a vast range of partners, each of whom made a significant contribution to provide safe and secure accommodation, health and support to over 7,000 homeless clients.

The success of this project would not have been possible without our partners:
Local Government Housing, Social Care and Public Health teams, London Councils, Public Health England, NHSEI, NHS Primary Care Frontline Staff and Specialist Homeless Health Services, Mental Health Services, Drug and Alcohol Services, System Leaders, UCL Find & Treat, UCL Inclusion Health Team, British Red Cross, Crisis, Depaul, Doctors of the World, EASL, Greenlight, Groundswell, Look Ahead, Médecins Sans Frontières, Pathways, Shelter, Crisis, Single Homeless Project, Thames Reach, The Mildmay Hospital, Greater London Authority, Healthy London Partnership and most importantly, those experiencing homelessness.

HSJ Editor, Alistair McLellan, offered his congratulations to Healthy London Partnership, Greater London Authority and all partners involved for their success, “The entrants this year have been of incredible calibre, and each of the Winners at the Awards has been chosen based on their outstanding commitment to excellence in healthcare, I’d like to offer my congratulations to every partner involved in the London Homeless Health response to Covid-19 on winning the Health and Local Government Partnership award at this year’s 40th HSJ Awards”.

Winners were announced during the virtual ceremony attended by over 4500 health and social care staff from across the country on 17th March 2021 (rescheduled from November 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic), celebrating the excellence of the healthcare industry whilst giving every outstanding individual the praise, support and recognition they deserve after a year like no other.
