In light of recent challenges with nuclear medicine and PET-CT we have recently started a pan-London nuclear medicine group to support recruitment and development of staff in this specialist and under the radar discipline. We are beginning the process of hiring a pan-London practice educator as a first step in that support.

The Imaging and Endoscopy Academy continue to develop. Imaging Practice Educators are coming on board and starting to run training lists across London, and Clinical Leadership Fellows have been appointed in endoscopy to support dedicated immersion training periods for Trainee Endoscopists. We have also recruited the second cohort of our course for new imaging leaders, Building Confidence and Connections in Imaging, and expect to start a third cohort in January.

The diagnostic team held a pan-London event on developing endoscopy pathways in September. This event brought Endoscopists of all backgrounds, Primary Care colleagues, Nurses, Managers and Patients together to work towards an improved endoscopy pathway for London. This programme of work is now being taken forwards by the Endoscopy Clinical Leadership Group and Primary Care colleagues.

The Endoscopy team in London has also been shortlisted as a finalist for the Safe Restoration of Elective Care Services Award as part of the HSJ Patient Safety Awards 2022.
